MORRISON HOUSE OF MUSIC/HARD ROCK HOTEL
Morrison Hotel & Amphitheatre | Downtown Los Angeles
Located at 1246 S. Hope Street, the Morrison Hotel & Amphitheatre project honors one of Los Angeles’ most iconic cultural landmarks. Originally built in 1914, the historic Morrison Hotel—famed for the 1969 photo session of The Doors’ Morrison Hotel album—has been shuttered since 2005. This project thoughtfully restores the hotel, transforming it into a vibrant entertainment destination while preserving its historic legacy.
The renovated structure will house 40 uniquely designed entertainment and party suites, each opening onto a central courtyard amphitheater. This state-of-the-art venue will feature professional staging, advanced lighting systems, and seating for 1,500 guests, with a club-level balcony offering additional bar and lounge areas. A rooftop lounge will provide panoramic views and premium concert viewing. A key feature will be the authentic restoration of the original room where Jim Morrison and The Doors were photographed—creating a powerful draw for music fans and tourists alike. The total venue capacity will be approximately 2,800.
Adjacent to the amphitheater, a new 20-story mixed-use tower will rise, including:
209 hotel rooms
87 luxury condominiums
45 workforce housing units
30,000 square feet of ground-level and lower-level retail, including restaurants and food courts
A potential Hard Rock Hotel flag, linking back to the site’s musical heritage
The tower’s rooftop will feature a dramatic two-story, glass-enclosed performance space seating 1,000 guests, plus a 10,000-square-foot signature restaurant/event space operated by a third-party brand. Additional program elements include 50,000 square feet of meeting and conference space, a full-service spa and fitness center, and a 400-space underground parking structure.
This transformative project blends cultural preservation with world-class entertainment, hospitality, and residential living—revitalizing the legacy of the Morrison Hotel for a new generation.
